Estonian driver Alex Reimann delivered an impressive debut performance at Road America last weekend, becoming the first Estonian ever to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America (PCCNA) — the U.S. counterpart to the legendary Porsche Supercup.
But this milestone was far more than symbolic: Reimann showed competitive pace throughout the weekend, carving his way through a tightly packed field and proving he can challenge for top-10 positions on both sides of the Atlantic.
Learning Curve and Fast Adaptation
The debut, made possible through a collaboration between EST1 Racing and Citimarine Motorsport, wasn’t without its challenges. Reimann had to quickly adjust to Yokohama tyres and ABS braking systems — both unfamiliar to him after racing in European series. He had also only driven the iconic Road America circuit in the simulator prior to the event.
Nonetheless, by the end of free practice, the young Estonian was already clocking lap times consistent with the top 10.
Race 1: Electrifying Start, Unfortunate Exit
In Saturday’s first race, Reimann launched from P17 and surged forward, reaching P9 within just two laps — thrilling spectators with a series of bold overtakes. However, his charge came to a premature end when contact from a rival early in the race led to suspension damage, forcing him to retire.
“There were some fantastic battles in Race 1, but unfortunately luck wasn’t on our side,” Reimann said post-race.
Race 2: Composed Drive and Clear Potential
Sunday’s second race delivered a full showing of Reimann’s capability. Starting 18th, the 20-year-old from Tallinn worked his way up to 12th, closing in rapidly on the top ten in the final laps.
“Alex adapted to the circuit quickly, even though the Yokohama tyres took some getting used to,” said EST1 Racing team principal Raimo Kulli.
“For me, his second race was even more impressive. A top-10 finish was well within reach — he was catching the drivers ahead with every lap. And you could clearly see he loved the experience of racing in the U.S.”
Team Success and Data-Driven Results
Reimann’s performance also had a knock-on effect within the team. His Race 1 data played a key role in helping teammate Javier Ripoll secure a podium in the Pro-Am class during Race 2, finishing 21st overall. This further underlined the strength of the team’s debut weekend in North America.
Breaking Barriers and Setting the Pace
Reimann’s U.S. debut didn’t just demonstrate that his speed extends beyond Europe — it also opened new doors for Estonian motorsport on the international stage. At just 20 years old, Reimann is firmly establishing himself as a world-class racing driver, taking bold steps toward the highest levels of global GT racing.
