The second round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season took place last weekend at the notoriously weather-variable Zandvoort Circuit.
Competing as part of the EST1 Racing team, Alex Reimann was on the starting grid for both races, which were held as part of the DTM race weekend. Despite a qualifying session that turned into a weather-driven lottery, the Estonian driver made two impressive charges through the field.
Reimann started the weekend strong, recording the 6th and 7th fastest times in the practice sessions, a promising sign for the races ahead. However, qualifying was held under challenging rainy conditions, which left Reimann starting both races from 16th position on the grid.
“Qualifying was chaotic — many off-track moments and several red flags,” said EST1 Racing team principal Raimo Kulli. “We missed the ideal opportunity to set a competitive lap time while the track was in its best condition, as the timing was extremely difficult.”
In Saturday’s first race, running in dry conditions, Reimann showcased his skill by climbing five places to finish 11th. In the second race, held under tricky conditions, many competitors ran off and ended up in the gravel, but Reimann seized the moment. He gained seven positions, finishing the round in a commendable ninth place.
“Alex delivered a very strong performance in both races. “He achieved the greatest positional improvement in each race,” Kulli praised. “His driving was truly impressive, the overtakes were bold yet controlled and well-judged.”
Reflecting after the races, Reimann remained grounded but positive:
“It was a challenging weekend at Zandvoort — certainly not the ideal result, but still a step in the right direction,” he commented. “We showed good pace in practice, but the wet qualifying made the entire weekend much more difficult. Still, we battled our way through the field in both races. Now it’s time to rest and return back even stronger.”
Reimann will return to the track from 20th–22th June for the third round of the Porsche Carrera Cup France series at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
