It’s shaping up to be a busy weekend for EST1 Racing, as the team enters two cars in the second to last round of the GT Cup Open Europe season at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Alongside regular driver Alex Reimann, the second Porsche will be driven by Javier Ripoll Jr. from Venezuela. Ripoll has previously competed under EST1 colours and has expressed his satisfaction with the Estonian team, while team principal Raimo Kulli has noted that working with different drivers is helping the team grow and improve.
After four rounds and eight races, Reimann currently sits sixth overall in a field of more than thirty competitors.
“This season hasn’t been as consistent as I had hoped as we’ve had a few zero-point races,” Reimann admitted. “Still, sixth place so far is a decent position, and expectations are high heading into Barcelona. I always enjoy racing at the Catalunya circuit – it feels almost like a home track. The weather forecast suggests some rain too, which should make things even more interesting. The goal is definitely to fight for the podium.”
As with previous rounds, the Barcelona event follows a double-header format, with separate qualifying sessions and races on both Saturday and Sunday.
